Olá Amigos 🥰
I hope you’ve all been enjoying a wonderful summer!

You may have noticed that posts have been a bit more intermittent than usual the last two months — and for good reason.
Between a few creative pursuits plus Jett’s recent ACL surgery (it’s been a tough week but our sweet girl is pulling through!), life has been full over here.
In total transparency, things will continue to ebb and flow for me the next few months — where I may publish more in some months and less in others.
Regardless, there’s lots in store you’ll love!
Updates aside, we have a jam-packed edition of Jettset today — here’s what’s on the itinerary:
New & Noteworthy 💡| Hot off the presses.
Postcards from Portugal 🇵🇹 | Girl, you look when you back that glass up.
The Love List 🩷 | Dip happens & some much needed perspective.
Without further ado, let’s dive in!

That was the trip we fell in love with Portugal – not Peru, despite our best intentions.
Turns out, Plan B was the real destination after all.
Because the truth is, the best travel stories rarely come from perfectly laid plans but from the joyful, unexpected surprises that take our breath away.
And isn’t that what we’re all chasing as travelers – those moments that feel like pure magic?
👆🏽That, my friends, is an excerpt from my very first editorial feature titled, From Peru to Portugal: How a Detour Changed Everything, which debuted in Life Lovers Magazine last week. 🎉
I am so proud of this milestone and what it represents for me — that it’s never too late to start over, whether in a new country or in new career.
Back when I worked in corporate, I’d always known that advertising was never my purpose. What I see now is that it was simply my prelude (an invaluable one at that).
And while I’m still finding solid ground in these new endeavors — often feeling equal parts excited and utterly terrified — I am learning to simply trust.
Trust the process. Trust myself. And above all, trust that life is unfolding in my favor.
Because if there’s one thing my detours have taught me, it’s this: when we loosen our grip on control, life often leads us to a far better destination. ✈️

What did you think of the recent Table Talks ☕️ with Chef Angela Sellers? 👇🏽
Her story might be one of the most compelling I’ve captured yet.
Why?
Because, despite her fear and self-doubt, she decided to go all in on her dream — unapologetically claiming the life she wanted for herself.
And in the process, Angela created one of the most well-loved Italian restaurants in Porto.
I think sometimes we need stories like hers to remind us all of what we’re capable of.
I know I did.

Every summer, there's one event Josh and I never miss — Braga’s annual Vinho Verde Fest.
Vinho Verde, which means “green wine,” is known for its bright, slightly fizzy, fruit-forward flavor — it’s one of our staple drinks each summer and made right here in our local Minho region.
During the 3-day festival, dozens of local winemakers across the area set up shop in the heart of the city, pouring chilled glasses and sharing the stories behind each variety.
Surrounding the wine stalls are food trucks, live music, and one of Braga’s prettiest backdrop: Congregados Basilica, a church (among many) in the city.
If you’re curious to learn more about this festival or others in Braga, then check out this article.👇🏽
The Love List 🩷
BITES | Hummus Vibes Only
Our grocery store carries a hummus we’re absolutely obsessed with, usually working our way through at least two containers a week.
Convinced I could replicate it, I tried my hand at making hummus from scratch last weekend.
The result: Solid B+
It was tasty but not amazing, leaving plenty of room for improvement (if you have a recipe you love, please send it my way! 🙏🏽).
I’m on the hunt for a good base mainly to test out a few variations I’ve been craving:
Oven roasted garlic
Caramelized onions
Curry (in honor of my Guyanese roots)
But I know what you’re probably thinking…
Don’t worry, my friends, I always carry plenty of mints with me. 🤓
QUOTE | Clear-ity
Last but not least, author James Clear of Atomic Habits has a wonderful newsletter I subscribe to called 3-2-1 Thursday that I highly recommend.
In a recent edition, he shared some wise words that feel particularly apropos in today’s day and age:
And with that, have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
With only more love,
Sam
